Aesthetic Allure Laser Removal and Skin Spa in Brooklyn
Aesthetic Allure Spa Brooklyn

If you are in south Brooklyn you should definitely visit the Aesthetic Allure Laser Hair Removal and Skin Spa. For the past 11 years, Allure Spa offers dozens of services to perfect beauty of your skin and hair. Our expert visited the salon for acne-cure and hydrafacial treatment and talked with esthetician Aksana who performed treatments and Lana, owner of the Spa about beauty routine, procedures, and products.

– Aksana, should women stop wearing makeup if they have acne?

It is commonly believed that makeup is the cause of most acne for women, however, makeup is okay. Oil-free, noncomedogenic brands are less likely to cause pore blockages and breakouts.

Hypo-allergenic and fragrance-free makeup brands are also good. Broken out skin is sensitive, so choosing products that will treat it gently and not irritate breakouts is extremely important! Our estheticians also recommend not using makeup for at least a few days post-treatment for any skin procedure to help expose the skin naturally to sunlight.

– Does acne mean that face is not clean enough?

Absolutely not! The belief that a blackhead is a dirt feeds another myth about breakouts. Over-cleansing skin with the hopes that you’ll clear breakouts may only trigger more breakouts, thanks to stimulating an over-production of oil.

– Why do adults have acne?
Adult acne is caused by the same things that cause teen acne: excess skin oil and bacteria. Any changes in hormones, including those brought on by pregnancy and menstruation, can trigger excess oil.

– What acne treatments are best in Aesthetic Allure?
The results you get from facial treatments depends on many factors. Understand that you won’t get amazing results, or clear skin, with just one treatment. As with any acne treatment medications and procedures, getting results from facial treatments takes time. To get the best results, you’ll have to commit to a series of acne facials. However, acne treatment facials can be helpful in removing blackheads and leaving your face feeling smoother and softer. But instead of facials as your sole acne treatment, use them as an add-on to your daily acne treatment medication.

Some of the top treatments for acne include:

Microneedling with Acne Mesotherapy serum: microneedling causes micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate new production of healthy skin cells while infusion acne focused serums that target in hydrating the skin and killing bacteria

Signature Acne facial: manual blackhead extractions, steam to open pores and kill bacteria, vitamin c serum, and bio led light to help eliminate surface bacteria and reduce redness.

Chemical Peels: help remove dead skin cells and surface bacteria

Microdermabrasion: exfoliates the skin and allows for new skin cells to form while removing surface impurities

Hydrafacial: a blend of chemical peel, exfoliation, and patented vortex extractions

Step 1: Cleansing and exfoliation. The technician uses a small “deplaning” tool that opens up pores and sweeps the uppermost layer of makeup debris and dead skin cells away. It felt like a spinning toothbrush was being run over my face.

Step 2: Acid peel. Most glycolic peels leave your skin stinging for a few minutes until they’re washed off, but not this one. The glycolic/salicylic acid peel is gentle enough that it only creates the faintest tingle.

Step 3: Extractions. If you’re the type of person who gets off on seeing what comes out of your clogged pores, this is the part of the treatment you’ll love. Instead of performing manual extractions, the technician uses something rather elaborately called a vortex-extraction nozzle that acts as a vacuum. The sucking sound it makes is oddly satisfying, but the best (or the worst?) part is the cup at the base of the machine that shows exactly what was extracted—and it’s more than you think.

Step 4: Serum application. This step uses the vortex-fusion tool, which infuses an antioxidant-and-collagen-rich serum into the skin to promote elasticity and hydration.

ACNE CURE:

The treatment with THOROUGH extraction for congested skin with blackheads, whiteheads, blemishes or ‘bumps’. Includes enzymatic exfoliation. The procedure includes steam to open up pores, manual extractions, and enzymatic exfoliation.

– Aksana, what treatments are you doing for yourself?
The best treatment I have ever done and is still currently doing is microneedling with prp plasma. “Vampire” skin treatment uses your body’s own Platelet Rich Plasma (“PRP”) to rejuvenate face and neck. Platelets are rich in growth factors, which essentially act as an energy boost for our skin. This allows our skin to function at its peak, improving everything from collagen to elastin, while at the same time providing antioxidant and hydrating properties.

– Lana, how did your beauty journey begin?
I worked in the beauty industry my whole life, from being a sales representative for some of the top skin care brands to becoming a professional make up artist,  to working in some of new york’s most prestigious laser clinics offering treatments to a variety of celebrities and models.

– How did do you decide to open your own place?
After gaining so much experience in the beauty industry I was finally confident to open my own place. My whole life as much as I enjoyed working for others and helping customers I began to develop my own standards and techniques when it came to skin care. Eventually, I saw that the area where I was thinking of opening my own place that there was such a high demand for skin care and laser treatments but there was no place to really go to that was affordable with a modern inviting environment, people were spending thousands of dollars at dermatologists offices and not getting results they wanted or the individual care they wished for. People want a good conversation in a place that feels like home while receiving expert care and I managed to create an office that offers a majority of treatments that dermatologists offer for ⅓ the price while still maintaining the quality of machines/technology as well as expertise.

– What’re your skincare secrets?
I am a huge advocate of natural skin care. I believe daily care of skin just like going to the gym results in amazing results! In addition, getting a monthly facial no matter what is a must! Skin care is a commitment and not a one-time procedure that offers magic. NO matter the condition of your skin everyone should always be hydrating and cleaning their skin day and night while still making the commitment to have an expert manually clean and hydrate your skin!.

– What’s your beauty credo?
Skin care is not a miracle but a commitment

– Do you have treatments in Aesthetic Allure, you can’t live without?
The microneedling RF treatment! This is one of the newest treatments out in the skin care industry and has proven to be highly effective for a variety of skin care concerns. The micro-needles in the treatment head create micro-injuries that will force the body to naturally heal and produce newly formed collagen. After the microneedles have penetrated the skin, a radio frequency energy is released under the skin, causing thermal damage. This thermal damage is known as, thermolysis. Thermolysis further helps stimulate new collagen to be produced without damaging essential layers of the skin. After the initial treatment, the skin subsurface begins to heal with more volume and restored collagen. This restoration and healing process works to smooth out acne scars and wrinkles with the help of newly formed collagen and elastin in the deeper layers of the skin.
