We have visited Alexandra Gold from Schweigerderm Dermatology last year for lip augmentation and we couldn’t just leave it there, as you know, there is no limit to perfection and this time we test the Microneedling and chat with beauty guru Alexandra about it.

Microneedling, also known as a collagen induction therapy became popular procedure these days. You can find a variety of tools such as derma-rollers or more sophisticated pens and machines for in-home use. However, in our case, we were looking for professional Microneedling services performed by a  top expert.

MyTopFace team interviewed Alexandra about the procedure, how to get prepared, as well as how to take care of the skin after the procedure.

– Alexandra please tell us, what is Microneedling exactly?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure used to rejuvenate the skin, shrink pores, minimize fine lines and wrinkles, and treat acne scars.

– How does Microneedling work?

We use an automated pen to take tiny needles in and out of the skin to cause trauma to the skin. This then provokes your own skin to produce new collagen and elastin which we lose over time due to aging. Acne scars are treated by this same method.

– How to Prepare for Microneedling?

To prepare, I ask that patients discontinue use of retinols a few days before treatment and keep the skin hydrated. Avoid taking any medications that may thin the blood (such as, aspirin) and avoid alcohol the night before treatment. For darker skin types, I may pre-treat with a lightening cream to avoid hyperpigmentation.

– Are there any risks or side effects?

The day of treatment, patients will go home red and bloody – but this is what we want! The redness may last for about 3 days, but makeup can be worn the day after treatment.

– How often can you do Mironeedling?

You can do treatments once a month. I generally recommend doing 3 treatments on a monthly basis and then every 6 months for maintenance.

– On what areas Microneedling can be performed?

I use microneedling for stretch marks, commonly on the buttocks and upper thighs.

Alexandra is a true expert who knows what she is doing. She explained to us what to expect from the procedure and prepared  morally and as well as she prepared and got  skin ready for it. Few days after the procedure we  already saw positive results on  skin – it is a pleasure to be in hands of such professional as Alexandra!”
